The Hunger Committee raises awareness of global and domestic hunger issues and encourages congregations in ministries responding to the needs of hungry people around the corner and around world. The Metropolitan New York Synod Hunger Team is excited to announce The Feed My People Collective, a food justice advocacy initiative. Feeding the hungry requires more than providing food. It also means advocating with and on behalf of people challenged by food insecurity to persuade our elected officials at the local, state, and national level for policies and practices that change the existing systems that keep people in a constant cycle of hunger. It means addressing the root causes of hunger, like poverty, job instability, affordable housing, climate change, lack of access to education, and more.
