Conversation Buddy

Be a welcome witness to our immigrant community in Austin by volunteering as a Conversation Buddy! Conversation Buddies will be matched with an ESL student or a group of 2-3 students. Students range from beginners to intermediate English proficiency, and all are able to hold a conversation. Conversation Buddies need to be patient, kind, and open minded. You’ll meet with your student(s) once a month for a couple of hours to practice English, get to know one another, and be a welcoming witness. You’ll be responsible for planning the hangouts (invite them over to dinner, show them a nearby park, hang out at a coffee shop, etc.). You’ll continue meeting with them every month until May.
