Being successful in high school is often about figuring out how to fit into a certain box. If you’re an athlete or an honor student, a bookworm or the class president, these boxes might be beneficial—offering you a path to follow. But for those of us who are still figuring out who we want to be, or have serious barriers keeping us from taking advantage of our passions, we need another way in. In order to offer a meaningful opportunity for young adults who think outside of the high school box, we came up with 40 West Digital—a film and video production company based in the MLK Center Indy and staffed by community members aged 17-24.
While no experience is necessary, participants will learn the ins and outs of video production, working alongside professionals on real projects for real-world clients. Not only will you get the chance to gain professional experience, you’ll also be able to complete personal video projects conceived during the 6-week program. And even if you’ve never had an interest in video before, the program is designed to provide you with life skills to give you a leg up on finding the kind of work that is right for you.
